The People's Republic of The Reformed States is a huge, orderly nation, remarkable for its frequent executions, otherworldly petting zoo, and stringent health and safety legislation. The cynical population of 870 million Americans are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The enormous, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Defense, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Washington DC. The average income tax rate is 72.5%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but sluggish American economy, worth 26.4 trillion dollars a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is quite specialized, is mostly made up of the Trout Farming industry, with significant contributions from Information Technology. Average income is 30,395 dollars, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Former customs officers are adjusting to their new lives as market stall traders, bemused citizens are encouraged to sing foreign-language hymns of religions they have never heard of, politicians are often found scavenging bins at night to supplement their income, and the sick and dying are locked in their homes with a red "X" painted on the front door. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Reformed States's national animal is the bald eagle, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

The Reformed States is ranked 29,501st in the world and 1,575th in Osiris for Highest Foreign Aid Spending, scoring 931.71 on the Clooney Contribution Index.
